Gather a group of at least two people, in a living room or kitchen, basically a place were you feel secure and safe. All participants should sit around it, with their knees or hands touching. This allows the “energy” to flow. It is also believed that the more people you have helps you to build stronger energy and make contact more likely. It is also recommended to work with those you consider friends, providing even less tension and creating an element of trust. One person should be designated as the medium. The medium is the person responsible for asking the Ouija Board questions. People that have a positive attitude, believers, tend to make Good mediums.
Break in the board by having the participants touch the wooden planchette provided. The planchette is the feature of a Ouija board that spells out the answers to the questions asked of it. Do not use anything sharp on the board, to avoid scratching it. Experienced users suggest that the board must be enticed into participating by having the participants run their fingers over the planchette. Let your fingers do the talking by lightly placing your fingertips on the planchette. Do not force the movement of the planchette. If it isn’t responding to a light touch, no one is there. Give it time. There may not be enough psychic energy being generated. Try to focus on a single question or meditate on the spirit you are attempting to contact. Try to clear your mind and relax.
Ask if there are any spirits that would like to come forward and speak. Something along the lines of “Are there any spirits in the room that would like to speak to us. Please communicate with us by using the board only. When you are ready please move the planchette to YES or move it in circles“. Guard against evil or unwanted spiritual entities by announcing that only good spirits are welcome at the session. It is safer if you ensure that the spirits only communicatethrough the board – make it certain that you are in control of the board and ignore any other spiritual activity in the room (knocks, bangs, tapping, lights etc.) Ask the spirit to use the board or leave.
It can take up to 15-20 minutes before any spirit will come forward to talk. If nothing happens then slowly move the planchette yourselves in large circles around the board a few times, then pause and wait – usually the spirit will take over from here. Sometimes it helps to move the planchette in circles allowing the momentum take a life of its own. Giving it that little push allows spirits to connect and move the planchette. If you still have no luck after about 45 minutes then close down the board and try it another evening. ( for closing the board see step 7 )
Possibly ask more complex questions as the session progresses. The participants in the session will spontaneously spell out the answers using the planchette. Those who believe in the power of the Ouija board claim that spirits subtly guide the users’ fingers to spell out the correct answers. Never ask questions relating to your own death or death of another person. Just because you heard it on your ouija board, does not mean it is so. Spirit contact is most often working with disembodied people. They are subject to their own bias, ignorance, and sometimes arrogance. Ask questions and later check sources. Ask the same question more than once in a session,to verify that you get the same response.
Some Good Questions to ask potential spirits:
1. Did you live on earth at anytime? When did you live on this world?
2. What was the name of the place, village, or area you lived?
3. What did you do for a living? What were your hobbies?
4. What would you like to tell us?
5. What is your name?
6. Who were your parents or what tribe do you come from
It is a good idea to have someone writing down questions and responses. Often spirits speak in an abbreviated code of first letters of words (instead of whole words) and also they may spell things out phonetically. When we see it written out, it becomes more clear. Keep in mind that not all spirits originally spoke your language. Some spirits may also communicate in symbolic terms, so round could be a cookie, a ball, a ritual circle…
The chosen medium needs to bring any session to a close by going to the word “GOODBYE” using the planchette. Always close the Ouija board at the end of a session. Experienced users claim that this is extremely important, as it closes off the gateway that allowed the spiritual entities to be contacted in the first place. If the spirit does not move the planchette to GOODBYE, then tell the spirit that you are saying goodbye and that you ask they do the same.
If the spirit STILL refuses to leave, then you must move the planchette to GOODBYE and in a stern strong voice say GOODBYE and LEAVE out loud. Then remove your fingers from the planchette.
